What Other People Say About Us
“Angelic Music”

"The Angels of Jazz have the audience's feet tappin' and
fingers snappin'"
Kathy Uek

“The Follen Angels provide fresh
arrangements to familiar classics that not only entertain, but
enlighten the audience. The group plays exceptionally well
together: Hildy Grossman provides a powerful yet smooth as silk lead
vocal. Drummer Ken Dantzig plays from whisper soft to Buddy Rich
hard solo, always in time, always in the pocket. Pianist and
support vocalist Reiko Tanaka provides a beautiful harmony and unique
style all her own. Together with their bass player Nick Thibault
and horns by Rick Stone, they make the perfect quintet. Their
repertoire sounds unique and fresh, not dated. Gershwin never
sounded so good with a twist of funk. This was the most fun I've
had in the cabaret in a long time. The Follen Angels are a must
see!”

"The Follen Angels keep the tradition of
authentic European cabaret alive."
Ron Della Chiesa
WGBH Public Radio
"It was a pleasure to revel in the
true talent of international jazz and cabaret favorites The Follen
Angels in the cozy ambiance of Marblehead Little Theatre. While I am
admittedly not an aficionado of jazz music or the genre of the Gershwin
Brothers and Cole Porter, I was instantly smitten with the Follen
Angels and their unique presentation of music. You’d have to be Scrooge
himself not to have an appreciation of vocalist Hildy Grossman’s talent
and enthusiasm. In fact, the entire ensemble sparkled. Reiko Tanaka
played the keys with passion and periodically joined Grossman in
vocals. Rick Stone’s brilliance on the sax was illuminated throughout
the evening as he boogied and blew with total conviction. Bass player
Nicholas Thibault was more subdued but also enraptured and entertaining
with his instrument while drummer Ken (W for Wonderful) Dantzig let
loose with gusto a couple of times on the drums. The group has the
robust talent of a big band coupled with the intimate charm and allure
of a glamorous piano bar entertainer from a sequined era. All
in
all, it was a toe tapping good time that made me want to don an
evening gown, color my lips ruby red and sip a bubbly glass of
champagne. The show proved quite a treat to ring in the holidays."
