The Follen Angels are dynamic cabaret artists who perform music from
early European and modern Cabarets, the American Musical Theater, and
Jazz Standards. The "Angels" originated at the Longy School of Music
(on Follen Street in Cambridge) where they studied and performed for
enthusiastic audiences. Each Angel brings a unique style to the
political, serious, and comical music comprising their repertoire.
Together, they provide an international perspective rarely seen in this
country.
The Follen Angels have delighted audiences at such venues as Scullers
Jazz Club, Club Passim, the French Library, the Goethe Institute, the
Sundays at Seven Series at Longy, the Center for the Arts in Natick,
the Amazing Things Arts Center, the Framingham Performance Center, the
Blacksmith House, , Le Meridien Hotel in Boston, as well as at private
functions and corporate events. For Bastille Day, they charmed WGBH
Public Radio listeners with an hour-long appearance on Ron Della
Chiesa's "Jazz Songbook." Recently, they headlined with national
comedian, Louis Black.
The "Angels" have been selected as the Boston Globe Arts Calendar
choice several times, the Globe "Go" Arts section, the Metrowest Daily
News Arts pick, and the Metrowest Globe Arts section choice. Arts
reporter Kathy Uek of theMetrowest Daily News said, "The Angels of Jazz
have the audience's feet tappin' and fingers snappin'."
